Do you know first Google Doodle was designed by Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin to honour Burning Man festival way back in 1998?

Google doodle is a short term alteration on Google’s homepage to celebrate special events such as notable historical figure’s birthday, holidays, events, achievements etc.

Today Google is honouring Olga Aleksandrovna Ladyzhenskaya.

“Today’s Doodle celebrates Olga Ladyzhenskaya, a Russian mathematician who triumphed over personal tragedy and obstacles to become one of the most influential thinkers of her generation.”

    Who was Olga Aleksandrovna Ladyzhenskaya?

A notable mathematician, Ladyzhenskaya was known for her works on fluid dynamics and complex mathematical equations of partial differentiation, especially Hilbert’s nineteenth problem.

Her father was arrested by Soviet Internal Affairs and later killed. He was also a mathematician, which probably led Olga to develop a keen interest in Maths later.

It was because of this hatred she was not admitted for future studies at Leningrad University. Later she completed her doctorate from two different Soviet Universities. She kept teaching Maths in spite of many political and financial turmoils including the fall of the Soviet Union.

VoxyTalksy would like to remember her prior to women’s day and would like to state that she will always be an inspiration for women and men all around the world.
