1. Jaya Prada
Former Bollywood actress Jaya Prada said her goodbyes to Bollywood and entered the world of politics. She started her political career with the Telugu Desam Party and later joined the Samajwadi Party and fought from Rampur parliamentary Constituency in UP.
She ha been a Member of Parliament from the year 2004 to 2014. She has been a member of the Samajwadi Party, Rashtriya Lok Manch and RLD, but was either removed or left. She has now joined BJP and will be attempting her third term from Rampur contesting this time, against Mohammad Azam Khan.
2. Govinda
Govinda is one of the most successful comic-actors in the history of Bollywood. However, when he suffered a downfall at the box office, he thought of entering the world of politics as a member of the Indian National Congress.
In 2004, he was elected as an MP for the Mumbai North constituency and defeated BJP’s Ram Naik with a mountainous majority. However, after being criticised for his constituency during the 2005 Mumbai floods, he decided to leave politics and went back to Bollywood.
3. Rajesh Khanna
The first superstar of Bollywood, Rajesh Khanna, opposed the Lok Sabha from Congress in the year 1991 and lost to L. K. Advani. He later became a member of the Lok Sabha, by defeating his good friend Shatrughan Sinha.
Rajesh Khanna was an MP for Congress, from the New Delhi constituency, where he won the election, holding his seat for up to 4 years after which he lost all interest in politics.
4. Shabana Azmi
Shabana Azmi has always been a committed social activist by showing active participation on a variety of issues. She is currently the Goodwill Ambassador of the United Nations Population Fund (UNPFA).
In appreciation of her selfless samaritan life and work, the President of India gave nominated her as a member of the Rajya Sabha. In 2019 general elections, she actively campaigned for Kanhaiya Kumar who is contesting from Begusarai, Bihar for Communist Party of India (CPI).
5. Paresh Rawal
The notable actor, Paresh Rawal, is an MP in the Lok Sabha of the Indian Parliament representing the Ahmedabad East constituency for a period of 5 years starting from 2014. He is currently politically affiliated with the Bharatiya Janata Party.
