On 26th January, India celebrated its 73rd Republic day. Given that this year Republic Day falls on the year 75th Independence day of India, the government said to hold week-long celebrations. It will start from 23rd January, marking the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and ending on 30 January, which is observed as Martyrs’ Day
In U.P., Governor Anandiben Patel unfurled the national flag at the legislative assembly.
The Republic day parade in Lucknow began at KKC college and culminated at K.D. Singh Stadium. Many defence squads participated in the parade. This year, Lt. Col. Siddanna Munnoli led the army drill in the parade. He was in the 1/11 GR battalion (in batlik) which was a re-raised regiment after the independence of India.
Apart from military drills, the parade included many programmes, tableaux, and performances by school children.
