World Heritage Day is an International Day of Monuments and Sites. The day was proposed by the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) on 18 April 1982 and endorsed by the General Assembly of UNESCO in 1983. World Heritage Day is celebrated every year with various sorts of exercises including visits to the monuments and sites, conferences, round tables, and newspaper articles.
