Let’s be honest. We all want to achieve a flawless glowing skin but don’t have the time or resources to follow long and tedious skincare regimes. After researching on the world wide web for days, I’ve found the single most inexpensive and easy to follow routine called the CTM. A Cleansing, Toning & Moisturising (CTM) routine is not only the cheapest but also the most effective and it guarantees you a healthy-looking skin in no time. So, don’t even think twice before making this routine a daily part of your life. All you need is a little consistency and the right products for your skin type.
The first and foremost step is to clean your skin with a gentle cleanser. Clean-up is crucial for maintaining healthy skin as it unclogs the pores to help prevent breakouts and removes dead skin cells and impurities from your face. The first step is to identify your skin type and buy products according to that because using the wrong products will do more harm than good.
After cleansing, pat your skin dry with a microfiber or cotton towel. Never rub a cloth against your skin as it is delicate and rubbing causes damage which results in untimely lines and wrinkles. It is also advisable to scrub your skin no more than 2-3 times a week to prevent blackheads and whiteheads from occurring. Scrubbing every day is a major no-no and will make your skin extremely dry. Try to use natural homemade scrubs like coffee, honey, and sugar or bread-crumbs, milk and honey which are gentle on the skin unlike the harsh and phony walnut scrubs available in the market. Apart from cleansing, use a face mask once a week to hydrate your skin and minimize the appearance of pores.
Toning is one of the most forgotten steps in the skincare regime because its benefits are not immediately visible. However, it has a lot of distinct advantages for the skin, which is apparent in the long run. A toner not only maintains the pH balance of your skin but also enhances its ability to absorb products that you apply after toning.
Take a small amount of toner on a piece of cotton and dab it all over your face and neck. You could also directly pour the toner on your clean hands and pat it directly into the skin. It will ensure that none of the product gets wasted.
When purchasing a toner, it is of utmost importance that you keep in mind your skin type and avoid buying an alcohol-based toner, as they dry out skin profusely. You could also use organic rose water and apple cider vinegar as toners. They are natural, full of benefits and very affordable. Just dilute them with some water and pour them in a spray bottle for easy everyday application.
Last but not the least is moisturizing. No matter what your skin type may be, skipping a moisturizer is never a wise option. Moisturizing not only gives you the apparent skin benefits like hydration and nourishment but also prevents the appearance of wrinkles and acne. It creates a layer of protection between the atmosphere and your skin to protect it from sun damage and pollution.
It is always advisable to apply a moisturizer to damp skin to lock the hydration inside it as opposed to a towel-dry skin. If you have oily skin, you must choose a lightweight, oil-free moisturizer whereas dry to normal skin can go for a heavier alternative. Add a few drops of essential oil to your moisturizer for additional skin benefits.
A cheaper option for a moisturizer would be any oil that suits your skin type. Coconut, olive, almond, castor, jojoba are all loaded with skin benefits and are readily available online as well as offline at reasonable prices. However, I would advise you to use oils only at night as they might make your face look oily and result in a lot of face sweat due to sunlight. Do not forget to moisturize your lips with an organic, fragrance-free lip balm to keep them soft and kissable.
So, here are the three basic steps of skincare which will take only a few minutes from your daily routine but will amaze you with massive results if you follow it religiously. Now, to achieve the best results from this regime, follow it twice daily – once in the morning and once at night, specifically before going to bed. Try it for a week, and you will start feeling the difference yourself.
