Abhinav Bindra’s biopic (unscheduled release)

Anil Kapoor’s son Harshvardhan Kapoor will be playing the life of shooting champion Abhinav Bindra, the only Indian to win an individual shooting Gold medal in the Olympic Games for India. The film will be directed by Bhavesh Joshi.

Kapil Dev’s biopic (unscheduled release)

Ranveer Singh is set to portray former Indian Cricket team captain and pace bowler Kapil Dev who was pivotal in winning the 1983 Cricket World Cup for India. The film is currently called ‘83’ and will be directed by Kabir Khan.

Ram Gopal Varma is planning to make a movie on the life of Padma Shri Shashikala Om Prakash Saigal or Sashikala, an Indian actress, and politician who has played supporting roles in over 100 Bollywood films. She won two major awards: 1962: Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award in 1962 for Aarti and Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award in 1963 for a role in Gumrah.

Kalpana Chawla’s biopic (unscheduled release)

Priyanka Chopra is being touted to play Kalpana Chawla the first-ever Indian origin woman to fly to space. Chawla spent 31 days, 14 hours and 54 minutes in space and was killed during her second space mission when the Space Shuttle Columbia (STS 107) disintegrated during its re-entry into the Earth’s atmosphere and killed all 7 astronauts onboard.

Baba Sathya Sai’s biopic (unscheduled release)

The film is based on true incidents in the life of Indian spiritual leader Sathya Sai Baba. Directed by Kodi Ramakrishna, the movie starts Sreejith Vijay as Baba Sathya Sai. Anushka Shetty, Jaya Prada, Sarath Babu and Sukumari will be seen playing pivotal roles.

PV Sindhu’s biopic (unscheduled release)

Actor Sonu Sood will be producing a biopic on the new badminton sensation of the country PV Sindhu who won a silver medal at the Rio Olympic Games for India. Deepika Padukone is currently being approached for the lead role.

The daughter of South Indian superstar, Rajinikanth, Aishwarya Rajinikanth Dhanush, has announced that her next Telegu-Tamil directorial venture will be highlighting the story of Indian Paralympic high jumper Mariyappan Thangavelu who won a gold medal at the 2016 Summer Paralympic games.

Mahanati (unscheduled release)

The Telugu-Tamil film will capture the life of actress Savitri who was a South Indian sensation who was a singer, dancer, director, and producer who enthralled audiences with her talents. Directed by Nag Ashwin, the film will Keerthy Suresh and Samantha Ruth Prabhu in lead roles.

P Kalinga Rao’s biopic (unscheduled release)

Pandeshwara Kalinga Rao is considered as one of the greatest singers and composers of the Kannada language and his life will be captured in this Kannada film directed by Rajendra Singh Babu. The lead roles are yet to be cast as per news reports.
