Daddy (2017)

A political crime drama directed by Ashim Ahluwalia showcases the life of gangster-turned-politician Arun Gawli and his struggles in maintaining his gang against Dawood Ibrahim, his friend turned foe.

Raag Desh (2017)

This Indian period drama film directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia revisits the joint court-martial of Indian National Army officers Colonel Prem Sehgal, Colonel Gurbaksh Singh Dhillon, Major Shah Nawaz Khan who were a symbol of unity in diversity when the British government slapped a court case on them just two years before the Indian independence.

Kunal Kapoor (Shah Nawaz Khan), Mohit Marwah (Prem Sehgal) and Amit Sadh (Gurbaksh Dhillon) play the lead roles in this epic thriller.

Based on the sister of the notorious underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, Haseena Parker, this film directed by Apoorva Lakhia shows Shraddha Kapoor playing the titular character as Haseena who briefly manages the D-company in Mumbai in the absence of Dawood.

Poorna (2017)

Directed by Rahul Bose, this biographical adventure film celebrates the triumphs of Malavath Poorna (played by Aditi Inamdar), who is the youngest girl ever to climb Mt. Everest at the young age of 13 years and 11 months! Rahul Bose stars as Dr. R.S. Praveen Kumar, an IPS officer who helps Poorna hone her talent and nurtures her in the right direction.

Pad Man (2018)

Akshay Kumar plays the role of Arunachalam Muruganatham (the inventor of a low-cost sanitary pad manufacturing machine) gives a strong message to Indian society that menstruation is normal and it is nothing to be ashamed of. Directed by R. Balki, the movie is largely based on the short story “The Sanitary Man of Sacred Land” in Twinkle Khanna’s book “The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad”. The film also stars Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte in lead roles.

Padmaavat (2018)

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s epic historical drama deals with the valor and defiance of the Queen of Chittor, Rani Padmavati who gave a befitting reply to Allauddin Khilji’s sudden attack on the Chittor Empire. Deepika Padukone played the titular character and was supported by Shahid Kapoor (Raja Ratan Singh) and Ranveer Singh (Allauddin Khilji).

Based on the life of hockey player Balbir Singh (played by Akshay Kumar), the film celebrates the moment when the-then Indian Hockey team won the first-ever Olympic medal for India as a free nation in 1948.

Manto (2018)

Written and directed by Nandita Das, the film stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the title character of the Indo-Pakistani author and writer Saadat Hasan Manto. The film is based on the 1940s post-Independence period of India and how Manto was a part of this struggle.

Kesari (2019)

Kesari will relive the famous Battle of Saragarhi in which an army of just 21 Sikh warriors fought against a massive army of 10,000 Afghans in 1897. It stars Akshay Kumar and Parineeti Chopra in the lead roles and will be directed by Anurag Singh.

Super 30 (2019)

Directed by Vikas Bahl the movie is based on the life of mathematician Anand Kumar and his educational program Super 30 in which IIT aspirants from poor backgrounds make it big in life. Hrithik Roshan is playing Anand Kumar in the film.

Jhalki … Ek Aur Bachpan (2019)

Actor Boman Irani is set to play the role of Kailash Satyarthi, a Nobel Peace Prize winner in 2014 who has protected the rights of more than 83,000 children from 144 countries. The film will be directed by Brahmanand S Siingh and will show a little girl looking for her brother who goes missing and works as a child laborer.

Saina Nehwal’s biopic (unscheduled release)

Directed by Amol Gupte, this film will portray the life of Saina Nehwal, an ace shuttler who popularized badminton in India and won a Bronze Medal at the 2012 London Olympics and two Gold Medals at the Commonwealth Games apart from many national laurels and BWF Superseries titles.

Rakesh Sharma’s biopic (unscheduled release)

Rakesh Sharma is the first Indian to travel into space and orbit the Earth. The film will see Aamir Khan as Rakesh Sharma and the tentative titles of the movie are ‘Saare Jahaan Se Achha’ and ‘Salute’. The film is yet to go on the floors.
