  • Every major world religion like Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Zoroastrianism, etc. is represented in India. Additionally, many religions like Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Sikhism originated in India.
  • New Delhi’s air is the most polluted in the world due to very high SPM (suspended particulate matter) in the breathable air of the city. Yet, the pollution of Beijing is more famous in the media!
  • Aadhaar is the world’s largest electronic ID program where almost all the 1.2 billion people of India have received a unique identity number with biometric recognition.
  • To avoid polluting the elements of earth (fire, earth, water, air), followers of Zoroastrianism in India do not bury their dead, but instead, they leave the bodies in buildings known as ‘Towers of Silence’ where vultures pick the flesh clean off the carcass. After the bones are dry, they are swept into a central well for eternity.


  • The British withdrew from the 1920 Olympics in the sport of Hockey to avoid probable defeat by the Indians. In the 1928 Olympics, India secured the highest number of goals at 102 while conceding only two goals!
  • India is the world’s largest producer of milk! We overtook the entire European Union by reaching milk production of 132.4m tonnes in 2014!
  • India is also the world’s largest producer of dried beans, (kidney beans, chickpeas, etc.) and we are also the world leader in banana exports!
  • India has the world’s largest movie industry called Bollywood! India also makes the largest amount of films each year as compared to other film industries of the world!
  • India’s domestic “Go Air” airline only hires female flight attendants because they are lighter in weight. This helps the company save up to $500,000 per year in fuel costs!
  • ‘Anal’ is a local language spoken by at least 23,000 people in India and Myanmar (Burma).
  • A Muslim girl named Maryam Asif Siddiqui, a 12-year-old student from Mumbai, won a Bhagwad Gita contest (the Bhagavad Gita Champion League), organized by ISKCON – the International Society for Krishna Consciousness.


  • The Bhagavad Gita is 700 verses of Hindu scriptures in Sanskrit, which form part of the Mahabharata, the world’s longest epic!

  • Major Dhyan Chand, the wizard of Indian hockey was offered German citizenship by the Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler himself! This was after India defeated Germany 8-1 in the 1936 Berlin Olympics. However, Dhyan Chand respectfully declined the offer.
  • Takshila was the very first global university of the world where scholars from various countries came to study arts and science. It was established around 700 BC!


  • India sends the largest number of troops to the UN peacekeeping forces, and it also has the highest number casualties in the UN peacekeeping operations.


  • The Mid-day meal scheme which offers free breakfast and lunch to government school kids as an incentive to study is the largest school lunch program in the world!


  • India controls the world’s highest battlefield (Siachen) in the world and the Indian Army’s High Altitude Warfare School(HAWS) is one of the most elite military training centers in the world. US military Special Forces trained at HAWS before deployment in Afghanistan.


  • India has the largest number of news channels in the world. A whopping number of 798 TV channels as of July 2014 were running in India! Who just said our freedom of expression is endangered?


  • There are more than 3,00,000 lakh active mosques in India! No other country has as many mosques!


  • We are the world’s largest democracy and the 7th largest country in the world by total landmass!


  • The value of “pi” used in mathematics was first calculated by the Indian Mathematician Budhayana in the 6th century!
