Although there was a pre-face lifted model already going out, the all-new facelift shall introduce a BS6 compliant engine with a lot of other cosmetic changes in the BMW X1. BMW is looking to launch the new facelifted mid-life model around the price range of 40 lakhs.
The changes in the BMW X1 are likely to be minimal and are most likely to be limited to the improvement in the quality of materials used. However, the higher-end variants shall have options for panoramic soundproofing, an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with an integrated iDrive 6 multimedia software interface.
In terms of power and mechanics, the BMW X1 will remain the same, except for the BS6 compliant engine. The SUV is likely to continue with the 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol variant puts out a 192 hp of max power with 280 Nm torques, while the diesel mill puts out 190 hp of power with 400 Nm torque. Both engines are likely to get an 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox, but only the diesel variant shall have an all-wheel-drive configuration.
The Chinese version of the latest BMW X1 features engines with different configurations and sports a 9.7 kWh electric drive system as a part of its plug-in mild hybrid system. The company claims that the system is capable of delivering 95bhp and torque of 165Nm to assist the engine and are capable to run the car for up to 50 kilometers on battery alone. At this moment we may not be sure if the India bound X1 could feature hybrid mill, however, the price of hybrid will be considerably higher than the standalone system.
On the outer side, the BMW X1 is about to give a different look to the X1 coming with new changes, which includes a larger kidney grille, redesigned front, and rear bumpers. The all-new X1 is likely to receive enlarge exhaust tips, body cladding, diffuser, skid plates, and a new alloy wheel. BMW’s signature double-barrel design is likely to be introduced on to the headlamps. New color themes and redesigned color variants are also to be available with the facelift. The outer designs are supposed to give an aggressive sports trim look to the model.
It is about to challenge the other models like Mercedes Benz GLA, Audi Q3, and Volvo XC40. The SUV could be launched at a price tag of around Rs. 40 to 45 lakhs.
