Akshaya Tritiya is a popular Hindu festival which is also celebrated among Jains. It is observed during late April or early May every year. Significance:
In 2020, Akshaya Tritiya is to be celebrated on 26th April. The day is also called as ‘Akha Teej’. On this day Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi are worshiped. Akshaya Tritiya has many significances.
It is somewhere believed that the day is observed as the birth of Lord Parshuram, one of the incarnations of Lord Vishnu. Similarly, on the other hand, it is also said that Lord Krishna on this day provided his friend Sudama with plentiful wealth.
It is assumed that Lord Ganesha started writing the great epic ‘Mahabharata’ with sage Ved Vyas. Whereas, it is also assumed that Lord Krishna gave Draupadi an Akshaya Patra so that they get abundant food during Pandavas’ exile.
